For the traveler and explorer, there are a few things to do and see. The first is the 800 year old
Sun Temple of Katarmal- the only other Sun Temple after Konark. Also, hundreds of bells adorn the Jhula Devi Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. It is believed that once you have visited this temple and tied a bell; you will come back again. Fruit trees adorn the terraced orchards of Chaubatia Botanical Gardens, with a large collection of herbs and local plants for treating a variety of ailments. The connection with famous personalities is that Mahatma Gandhi is known to have stayed in a hut, Gandhi Kuti, in nearby Tarikhet village during the independence struggle.
