As a result, your head will be high in the clouds. Most people go on this journey during the winter since there is a lot of snowfall and every hilltop you see is draped in magnificent snow cover. The Kedarkantha hike is located in Uttarkashi, a region in Uttarakhand known for its beautiful mountains. This journey is popular since most people can do it fast because the routes are easy to walk. Even if this is your first walk and you are a novice, you will undoubtedly love this climb.
To begin the Kedarkantha trip, one must first go to Sankri, which is 200 kilometres from Dehradun. So, regardless of where you are, you must travel to Dehradun, where you can easily locate buses and shared cabs to Sankri. Here are a few handy ways to go to Dehradun: Traveling to Dehradun by vehicle is convenient no matter where you are, thanks to strong road connectivity and the NH7. There are also bus and shared taxi options available. By Air: Dehradun has a domestic airport with direct flights from various places. By Train: The Dehradun Junction is well connected to the majority of cities. You may take the Shatabdi, Rajdhani, or Garib-rath trains for a comfortable travel.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Dehradun to Gaichwan
Distance covered : 190 km
Take a cab or a bus from Dehradun for Naitwar,start early in the morning so that you reach on time.It takes about 8 to 9 hours of drive through the meandering mountains.Our team will meet you there and direct you to the base village,Gaichwan which has a raw and untouched rustic feel of the gone by era.
In the. In the village we will stay in the comfort of a Homestay & check out the sunset that’s leaves a beautiful crimson hue in the sky while sipping tea.Dinner will be served and then the trek leader will give a briefing for the next day.
Day 2: Gaichwan to Julota campsite
Distance :7km
After a hearty breakfast
we will hike a 7 km trek from Gaichwan to Julota campsite. The first day of trek is a pretty picturesque hike in which we gain almost 1000 feet above mean sea level.First we come across Karna Mahadeva temple, then the trail will lead us to an apple orchard after which we will reach Haltwari, last village before the dense forest spanning 2.5 km until we reach the beautiful campsite in Julota.The path is laden with fragrant herbs , flowers ,ferns and the tallest of the trees bowed down by a blanket of snow especially during December.
Day 3: Julota to Pokorla
Distance:3km
We will trek towards the green meadows covered with a white carpet of soft snow powder ,the snow could be 2.5 feet ,little evergreen streams of water play hide and seek under the snow and the land, the blue skies with trees getting shorter as we gain altitude can be vividly observed.The hike is gentle yet demanding.
No human habitation for miles altogether only the chirping of birds can be heard though it’s difficult to spot them.The oak laden landscape suddenly opens up to a beautiful meadow from where kedarkhantha peak suddenly emerges as we reach Pokorla.
The evening is spent sipping soups & tea, while the sun sets in the west and paints the sky in so many different hues.Different ranges and peaks like Ranglana,Bandarpooch,Swargarohani lie in all directions like jewels scattered in the glistening sky.
The camp will provide hot lunch and dinner, respectively,after which will do group games, folk stories by trek leaders and star gazing. An early evening is expected as we need to wake up quite early for the summit the next morning.
Day 4: Pokorla to Summit & downhill to Akoti.
Distance:4km
We will get up early and with head torches & layers will form into a line and slowly but steadily trek towards the summit at 4am so that we would be able to see the mesmerising sunrise at 6.30 am.After soaking in the 360 degree view of the beautiful Himalayan ranges, like Swargarohani, BandarPuch,Kalanag
….we finally go downhill after we have saved the memories forever in our souls.We will reach the base camp for lunch then we will further move towards Akoti for the night stay in tents, still.
Day :5 Akoti to Gaichwan
Distance : 6km
We will trek to Gaichwan and finally after a wilderness trip will feel the comfort of a Homestay.
The trek leader will ask for your feedback and the last dinner with a bonfire will be the best way to say goodbye to the new trekker friends made on top of a mountain.
Day 6: Gaichwan /Naitwar to Dehradun
It’s time to inhale the beauty of the mountains ,fill your memories with the fragrance of the oak and maples and know that every summit is possible,we bid goodbye to fellow trekkers that became great friends on a rugged tral.
Our journey to Dehradun will take the same roads that we first saw but now it feels like home as we leave a part of us in the alpine mountains, and make a promise to return.We would take around 8 to 9 hours to reach Dehradun, can plan to stay in the city for the night or board the train or bus to reach our destination.

Cancellation Charges:
1. Cancellation prior 30 days before the trek starts will be fully refunded.
2. Cancellation prior to 29 - 15 days from the start of the trek will be given 80% refund or a trek voucher for the same which is valid for 12 months.
3. Cancellation prior to 7 -14 days from the start of the trek will have no refund though the trek voucher for 12 months is available for the same trek.
4. During exceptional circumstances ,example,heavy rainfall, storm, landslides, snowfall, etc, there could be a change in route, the trek leader might decide to delay or to finish the trek early.In such conditions the trekkers will abide by the decision of group leader & no refund or breaking down of trek fees will be done.There will be no compensation for any injury, loss of life or damage. Trekkers will have to fill a indemnity bond with a copy of Aadhar card.
It is mandatory to take a travel insurance for which you need to pay 300 Rs .
