The Buddha picked Sarnath near Varanasi to deliver his first speech. As a result, Sarnath is one of the most revered Buddhist sites. Sarnath is also associated with Jainism in addition to Buddhism.
At Sarnath, there are several Buddhist monuments and edifices. Some of the most notable Buddhist structures in Sarnath are the Dhamekha stupa, the Dharmarajika stupa, and the Chaukhandi stupa, as well as monasteries and temples from Japan, China, Thailand, Burma, and other countries. The Mahabodhi Group, an Indian Buddhist society, maintains a garden around the Buddha temple. The park's Mahabodhi Temple houses a Buddha tooth relic.
Sarnath also has a large number of ancient ruins. Several Buddhist temples were built at Sarnath between the third and eleventh centuries BC, and it now has the most valuable remains of any Buddhist site. The Lion Capital of Ashoka pillar in Sarnath is India's national emblem, and it is on exhibit in Sarnath's archaeological museum.
We'll also go to the Wisdom Park, where you may take a tour through the phases of life depicted on stone scrolls, much as Buddha did.
